Cardano leads declines in a Saturday scan of eight major cryptocurrencies

At 14:22 CEST, CoinGecko showed ADA near $0.2238 and down about 3.2% over 24 hours. It was the largest decline in our same-time scan of eight major cryptocurrencies; this article explains why the reference window and quote time matter as much as the percentage itself.

On Saturday, 17 October 2026 at 14:22 CEST, CoinGecko showed Cardano (ADA) near $0.2238, down about 3.2% over 24 hours. Its 24-hour range was roughly $0.2214–$0.2331. This is a time-stamped snapshot, not a forecast or a buy or sell recommendation.

At the same moment, we checked BTC, ETH, SOL, ADA, XRP, DOGE, BNB and AVAX. ADA had the largest decline within this eight-asset set. It is not a ranking of the entire crypto market, so the result is described only as 'among the checked instruments'.

The Saturday reading comes from an active crypto market. Regular US stock, ETF and index sessions are closed, so we do not compare ADA's live price with Friday closes in other asset classes as if every quote had been formed at the same time.

What exactly does today's number show?

The −3.2% displayed on the graphic is the 24-hour change visible on CoinGecko at the time of the snapshot. A separate market-data feed used for the simultaneous eight-asset comparison showed roughly −3.5% from the previous close in the same minute. This difference does not automatically mean an error: providers can use different exchanges, update times and reference definitions.

A complete label therefore needs four parts: instrument, percentage, reference window and time. 'ADA is down 3.2%' is less precise than 'ADA is down about 3.2% over 24 hours on CoinGecko at 14:22 CEST'.

Why does the bitcoin comparison add context?

CoinGecko also showed ADA near 0.00000274 BTC, about 3.2% lower than a day earlier. That comparison indicates ADA was weaker not only in US-dollar terms but also against bitcoin over the same 24-hour window.

Fact: the ADA/BTC ratio fell. Educational interpretation: part of ADA's move may reflect broader crypto weakness, while part may reflect relative underperformance by ADA. The data alone do not confirm one cause and do not predict the next move.

What is actually open at the weekend?

Cryptocurrencies trade around the clock, so the Saturday percentage is live. Nasdaq's regular stock session runs Monday through Friday; Friday's stock and ETF levels are not new Saturday quotes.

The same distinction applies to currencies, energy and metals: a last available price can remain visible, but it should not be described as a fresh Saturday move from a regular session. Weekend news may affect reopening prices, but the direction and size of any response remain scenarios.

How can you practise this in Prodigy?

In the simulation, choose several cryptocurrencies and use one common timestamp and one reference window. Only then mark the largest rise and fall. This simple exercise helps avoid comparing percentages calculated in different ways.

Prodigy uses virtual money and simulated trades. The exercise result is not a real financial prize, a recommendation or a promise of profit.
