Randstad jumps 20% in Amsterdam: what did the market read in its Q3 results?
Randstad was the largest confirmed move among the instruments checked: its shares were up 20% from the previous close at 11:15 CEST. We separate the price move from the company report and explain why better results do not guarantee further gains.
On 21 October 2026, Randstad shares on Euronext Amsterdam were up 20% from the previous close at 09:15 GMT, or 11:15 CEST. The prior close was EUR 34.33. This is a dated snapshot from an open European session, not the closing price or a live quote at 15:00.
It was the largest percentage move among the checked indexes, selected shares, currencies, oil, gold and bitcoin for which we found a comparable, time-stamped reference. It is not a complete ranking of every instrument worldwide.
Randstad's official report confirmed 3.9% organic revenue growth in Q3, EUR 6.115 billion of revenue and EUR 211 million of underlying EBITA. Reuters reported that organic growth exceeded analysts' average 2.9% forecast and EBITA topped the EUR 200 million consensus.
1. How to read +20%
The reference is the previous EUR 34.33 close, not today's opening price. The +20% move is a snapshot from 11:15 CEST during an open session. The price could change later, so this is neither the day's final result nor a guaranteed execution quote.
Our educational context: a large percentage alone does not say whether a share is cheap, expensive or where it will move next. Expectations, valuation, liquidity and the complete report also matter.
2. What the company confirmed and what the market added
Randstad reported 3.9% organic revenue growth, EUR 6.115 billion of revenue, EUR 211 million of underlying EBITA, a 3.5% margin and EUR 110 million of net income for Q3. These are issuer figures for a completed period.
Reuters compared organic growth with a 2.9% consensus and EBITA with a EUR 200 million consensus. A gap between results and prior expectations is one possible mechanism behind a sharp revaluation. It does not prove that every trade had the same cause.
3. Why staffing data can interest the wider market
A staffing company observes employers' hiring decisions. Randstad reported improvement in Germany, North America and the Netherlands, with weakness in France. This can offer a signal about labour demand, but it does not replace official employment or GDP statistics.
A scenario, not a forecast: continued improvement could support revenue, while slower hiring, costs or weaker margins could work in the opposite direction. Today's move does not guarantee that the price will hold or predict the next session.
4. What was open at 15:00 and what was compared
At 15:00 CEST, Europe's cash session is still open, while Wall Street's regular session starts at 15:30 CEST. Korea and Japan have already closed, and crypto trades around the clock. These different clocks limit the value of one global ranking.
In the checked, dated sample, Randstad's +20% exceeded moves including Samsung and SK Hynix at +6%, KOSPI around +3.3%, DSV +7.9%, Carrefour −13.3%, Brent crude around +1.1%, and smaller euro and bitcoin moves. The snapshots are not perfectly simultaneous, so the claim remains strictly: among the instruments checked.
